There is evidence indicating that getting flu shots year after year could actually lower your immune system’s effectiveness. Recently, Dr. Edward Belongia of Wisconsin’s Marshfield Clinic Research Foundation discussed findings that children who had been vaccinated annually over a number of years were more likely to contract the flu than kids who were only vaccinated in the season in which they were studied.
Belongia, an epidemiologist, stated in a recent interview:
The vaccine was significantly more effective … if they had not been vaccinated in the previous five years.
These are important findings and public statements by Dr. Belongia who is currently the principal investigator for CDC-funded research on influenza vaccine effectiveness. To be fair, Dr. Belongia said about the findings “At this point there really aren’t any implications for the general public.” Rather, it’s a jumping-off point for future research. He continued by adding “it [the study] hasn’t yet been through the rigorous peer review required for publication in a scientific journal.”
Past Flu Shot Failures
Dr. Belongia and his team’s findings echoed a 2013 study in the Journal of Clinical Infectious Disease that followed 328 households encompassing 1,441 people. The study’s results showed:
Substantially lower effectiveness was noted among subjects who were vaccinated in both the current and prior season.
In addition, the results stated that:
There was no evidence that vaccination prevented household transmission once influenza was introduced; adults were at particular risk despite vaccination.
In an editorial commentary accompanying the 2013 study, John Treanor, M.D., and Peter Szilagyi, M.D. wrote:
As we are currently struggling through one of the most vigorous influenza seasons in recent memory, the apparent failure of influenza vaccine under optimal conditions seen in this study is indeed troubling.
Turns out Dr. Belongia not only knew about this 2013 study, he publicly commented on it during an interview conducted by the University of Minnesota’s Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRP). “I don’t know what to make of it,” Belongia told CIDRP news in 2013.
In 2011, a study in the Journal of Virology found that the seasonal flu vaccine may weaken children’s immune system and increase their overall chances of being sick. According to the 2011 study as explained by Dr. Mercola:
…when blood samples from 27 healthy, unvaccinated children and 14 children who had received an annual flu shot were compared, the former unvaccinated group naturally built up more antibodies across a wider variety of influenza strains compared to the latter vaccinated group.
Reasons to Question the Flu Shot
Mainstream news articles hinting at possible ineffectiveness or concerns regarding the annual flu shot are quick to then schizophrenically hail the safety and effectiveness of the shot.
However, this simply isn’t true.
The 2014-2015 flu shot effectiveness came in at 23 percent in the U.S. and no protection in Canada. This year, early reports are on record as only 18 percent effective for adults and 15 percent effective for children. Compound questionable recommendations to increase flu immunization rates by the questionable authority of the CDC, California Health and Human Services Agency Secretary Diana S. Dooley has now recklessly allowed the reinstatement of mercury-based vaccines. Her official statement reads as follows:
I am writing to inform you that I am granting a temporary exemption from California Health and Safety Code Section 124172 for seasonal influenza vaccine with trace levels of thimerosal to be administered to children younger than three years from October 9, 2015 through December 31, 2015, because the current supply of thimerosal-free vaccine for young children is inadequate.
A recent interview with Dr. Judy Mikovits, who recently had her gag order lifted, shed further light on the the state of vaccination in the U.S. In 2011, Dr. Mikovits found that at least 30% of vaccines are contaminated with gammaretroviruses. Not only is this contamination associated with autism and chronic fatigue syndrome, it is also associated with Parkinson’s, Lou Gehrig’s disease, and Alzheimer’s.
Dr. Mikovits is convinced that, along with vaccine retrovirus contamination, aluminum, mercury, formaldehyde, and polysorbate 80 in vaccines has led to the rise of several diseases in the U.S. She believes that until the neurotoxin and retrovirus contamination in vaccines can be cleaned up, it is too risky to get vaccinated.
This message is even more important for those with compromised immune systems, a family history of autoimmune disease, or anyone who is currently ill, Dr. Mikovits cautions. Given the recent findings over the years that the flu vaccine may be compromising the immune systems of recipients, Dr. Mikovits’ recent cautionary statements appear to hold even more weight.
