Atlanta CBS “Medical Correspondent” Believes Government Knows Better Than Parents, then Mistakenly Claims Kids in U.S. Dying from Measles

On Wednesday February 4, 2015 Atlanta CBS affiliate 11 Alive hosted a measles vaccine debate between their medical correspondent, Dr. Sujatha Reddy, and Lyn Redwood, a registered nurse who is also the vice president and co-founder of Safe Minds.

When asked the question: “Should (measles vaccines) be mandated or not mandated? Should it be the government’s choice, or the parent’s choice (to get the measles vaccine)?” Dr. Reddy replied:

I think at this point, since parents are not making what I think is the right decision, I think it might be better to leave that decision up to the government. Common sense is not prevailing.

In reply, Lyn Redwood stated that it should be a parent’s choice, and that vaccines carried inherent risks. She mentioned the fact that nobody in the U.S. had died from the measles in over 10 years, and yet the VAERS database has reports of over 100 deaths associated with measles vaccines.

Dr. Sujatha Reddy then replied:

But now we’ve had deaths from measles.

Lyn Redwood looked at her surprised and asked:

In the U.S??

To which Dr. Reddy answered:

From this outbreak we have had people who have died.

Please note, this is from the mouth of a “Medical Correspondent” claiming that the “science is clear” regarding vaccines, and that parents who disagree should be forced to have their children vaccinated because they lack “common sense.”

And yet, she did not even realize that nobody in the U.S. has died from the measles in over ten years according to the CDC!

Can we really trust anything else she says? Are these TV doctors really reliable in terms of the information they are giving out to the public?
