The USDA has given approval to new avian flu vaccines for chickens, and is set to approve new avian flu vaccines for cattle.

If you don’t want to eat commercial chicken and beef from large “farms” with Confined Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs) who need vaccines and other pharmaceutical products to try and keep their animals healthy, it is time to support small-scale operations where farmers refuse to vaccinate their livestock.

For those who have not yet identified sources for such meat in your local communities, we have been selling such meat for over 15 years over the Internet from small-scale farmers in Wisconsin, most of them Amish.

The farmers we contract with NEVER use vaccines on their livestock.

We still have some remaining stock from last year’s processing that are vaccine-free, but it is moving fast. Our farmers in Wisconsin are preparing for this year’s processing by ordering chicks that are NOT vaccinated, and setting up their brooders. We are also identifying sources for our grass-fed meats which include Galloway Beef, pastured pork, and lamb.

We hope to be able to continue offering these premium meats over the Internet this fall with new stock, but that is entirely up to how the USDA acts later this year in the summer months ahead, as our farmers hope they can continue raising their livestock without interference from the USDA over the “avian flu” scare.

We are currently running some sales on last year’s stock, but many items are already out of stock.
