The Corporate Media are finally catching up on what I have been saying and publishing for a couple of weeks now here at Health Impact News, which is that Canada does NOT have a fentanyl problem coming across the border.

As I have previously reported, only about 50 lbs. of fentanyl entered into the U.S. from Canada in ALL of 2024, and according to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), only 56.1 grams of fentanyl were seized at the Canadian border last month (February, 2025), including 20 fentanyl pills. See:

In the White House Press gallery yesterday, someone FINALLY addressed this question to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, and asked what the real purpose of the Canadian tariffs was.

Her answer shocked most people, so absurd was it, and it has been in the corporate media news stream yesterday and today.

Listen for yourself as she basically refused to answer the question as to what the real reason was for tariffs against Canada, faced with the statistics of how much fentanyl is actually coming out of Canada, but then revealed the main reason for these tariffs later in the press conference.

You can see that she is obviously reading a script about fentanyl coming out of Canada, following her boss who has also lied to the American people about the FAKE fentanyl crisis that doesn’t exist in Canada, and then states himself what the real reason is.

What else is going on behind the scenes and outside of the eyes of the public in this trade war with Canada, with Trump trying to pressure Canada to become the 51st State in the U.S.?

This could be part of the larger war Trump has declared against Western Europe over Ukraine.

Most Americans are probably not aware that Justin Trudeau is NOT the Head of State for Canada. King Charles III is, who lives in Europe in the UK, and although the media has reported that Trudeau has met with him, there are no reports yet about what they have discussed, and King Charles has not stated anything yet publicly about Trump’s desire to annex Canada.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with King Charles III, the country’s head of state, on Monday and was expected to discuss U.S. President Donald Trump’s threats to make Canada the 51st state. Trudeau received a warm welcome as the two met for a private audience at the monarch’s country residence, Sandringham, but officials did not provide details of the talks.

The king has come under criticism in Canada for being silent about Trump’s threats to annex Canada.

Trudeau said in London on Sunday he would discuss matters of importance to Canadians with Charles and said “nothing seems more important to Canadians right now than standing up for our sovereignty and our independence as a nation.”

Charles is the head of state in Canada, which is a member of the British Commonwealth of former colonies. (Full article.)

So what about Mexico, where the on again/off again tariffs were delayed today, again, for 30 days?

I don’t think anybody in the corporate media wants to go on the record for stating that we do not have a fentanyl crisis at the border with Mexico, in spite of the fact that Trump proudly announced this past Tuesday in his joint address of Congress, that traffic at the border has almost ceased since he came into office.

So since nobody else in the media will ask questions about this and theorize as to what the real reasons are for the Mexican tariffs, I will.

Last week, Mexico deported 28 prisoners who were serving sentences in Mexico for participating in drug trafficking.

The new Attorney General, Pamela Bondi, made a big deal out of this.

“We will prosecute these criminals to the fullest extent of the law in honor of the brave law enforcement agents who have dedicated their careers — and in some cases, given their lives — to protect innocent people from the scourge of violent cartels,” U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi said in a statement. But these alleged drug cartel members were already in prison in Mexico, so they were not taken off the streets to stop drug trafficking.

We also know that there is ample evidence that the CIA, DEA, and other U.S. Government agencies fund these drug cartels. People in Mexico know this also.

A few weeks ago, a well-read friend of mine gave me a book with no commentary other than “You must read this.”

The book, titled “One Hundred Years of Spies and Drugs: The Story of United States Counternarcotics Agents in Mexico” by Carlos Pérez Ricart, didn’t exactly fit into my standard reading interests, which are more focused on business, the economy and politics. But given my friend’s insistence, I decided to give the book a try.

I remember thinking similarly when pressed by friends to watch the Netflix series “Narcos.” My wife and I do not like consuming dramatic or violent content and try to avoid it as much as possible, as we feel like it is the equivalent of junk food for our brains.

But once I began watching the “Narcos” series, I must admit that I found it fascinating. The insight it provided into the inner works of the DEA, the CIA, the U.S. government, the Mexican government and of course the cartels, was informative, enlightening and disturbing.

This book had a similar effect on me and within just the first few pages, I became completely engrossed in the details. So much so that I reached out to the author, Carlos Pérez Ricart, and sat down with him to discuss his book and his thoughts on the current state of U.S./Mexican affairs.

What follows are the highlights of our conversation.

Pérez Ricart: The reality is that the United States has in fact been involved quite actively in the drug industry in Mexico for nearly 100 years already, so in many ways it would be nothing new.

Help me understand why and how the U.S. has been involved for so long. How did it begin so long ago?

During the Second World War, the U.S. military became increasingly concerned about the reliability of the supply of Asian (and Turkish) opium needed to produce morphine for wounded soldiers.

As a result, U.S. agents went looking for an alternative supply in Mexico. They wanted to have a supply chain closer to home that was not actually in the United States, given the delicate nature of the product.

The result was essentially the development of an opium supply base in the Mexican states of Sonora and Guerrero. The second well-documented case of the U.S. military encouraging the production of opium in Mexico was during the Vietnam War for the same purpose of local morphine supply when Asian supplies were disrupted.

I will note that there is no formal agreement of the U.S. buying opium from Mexico, but rather vast amounts of documentation making clear the encouragement of the development of a supply base of the product.

Wow. You are saying that the U.S. military actually had an important role in developing the opium drug industry in Mexico? That seems like a pretty staggering claim. How confident are you in your research and sources of information?

Most of my sources are actually public information from the National Archives in Washington, D.C. As do all government agencies, the DEA, after a certain period of time, makes many previously classified documents public.

I dedicated my Ph.D. and several years of my life reviewing the DEA archives on Mexico in the National Archives in D.C., as well as additional archives in California and Texas archive offices.

I was subsequently able to fill in gaps of information though many requests I made to the U.S. government through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

I was told by the National Archives staff that I was only the second person to review these documents since they were first released.

Then there is this report, about Carlos Slim, the wealthy billionaire from Mexico who many believe is behind drug and child sex trafficking in Mexico, and how he is canceling his contracts with Elon Musk to bring Satellite Internet to Latin America, which could lose Musk over $22 billion.

Is it possible that Musk has a voice in Trump’s ear about these tariffs on Mexico?

Carlos Slim orders to cancel his collaboration with Elon Musk’s Starlink

In a significant business development, Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim has decided to cancel his collaboration with Elon Musk’s Starlink. The decision comes after a series of tensions between the two magnates, culminating in Slim’s choice to invest in his own infrastructure rather than relying on Starlink’s satellite technology.

Slim’s company, América Móvil, announced plans to invest $22 billion over the next three years to enhance its telecommunications infrastructure. This move is seen as a strategic effort to strengthen its position in the market and reduce dependency on external partners like Starlink. By opting to develop its own infrastructure, América Móvil aims to maintain control over its operations and ensure the reliability of its services. This decision marks a significant shift in the dynamics of the telecommunications industry in Latin America, highlighting the competitive nature of the market and the strategic maneuvers of its key players. This is just speculation, of course, because the Trump Administration refuses to divulge the real reasons for these tariffs which are now taking a toll on the U.S. economy, as Wall Street continues to wobble and decline, with a full blown market crash perhaps imminent.

But one thing is clear from the early actions of the Trump Administration: They will deliberately LIE to the American people to get their way, just like every administration before them.
